Son(ftm) being bullied at school

My son has been having issues, again with a kid in his class. This boy was a good friend of my son until he found out that he is trans. Last year, the boy used emphasis on repeatedly calling my son “she/her” all day in class thinking it was funny and made it well aware that he doesn’t like transgender people. My son was very upset. I talked with the teacher and principal, they apologized and talked with the boy. A few days later the principal called me and urged me to not let my son use the men’s restroom at school(which he had always been doing with no issue). Months after that(this week) in class, the boy handed my son a Bible and said, “because you’re trans.” I feel like I’m not doing enough because, it keeps happening and when I addressed the school before, it seemed like my son was the one punished ‘randomly’ by being told not to use the men’s bathroom and now he holds it in all day! These issues happen during class.

We’re so sorry to hear you and your son are experiencing this at school. We recommend checking out Safe Schools For All for guidance, resources, and organizations that may be able to help with bullying, harassment, and discrimination at school.
